Computer and internet briefs

Washington : Need to edit a photo but don't have your favourite photo software handy? No problem. Log onto the internet and give the free FotoFlexer a try. This online photo editor has many of the tools found in standard photo editing software. You just upload a photo, and in seconds it appears in the FotoFlexer online application, where you can crop it, adjust the colours, beautify it, or perform dozens of other operations.

Washington - Need to take your Internet Explorer favourites with you? Just export them. To do so, open the File menu, and click Import and Export. In the resulting wizard, click Export to a File, and on the following panel, select Favourites. Then choose a folder or location in which to store the favourites. Take them to a new computer, and use the same wizard to import the favourites.

Washington - When selling goods on eBay or other online auctions, your goal is to inspire confidence in your potential customers. Do not misrepresent the condition of items that you're selling, and go out of your way to appear open and willing to communicate. Answer questions from buyers promptly and courteously. The more comfortable people feel about you, the more likely they are to offer a fair price.

Washington - In today's web browsers, it's usually unnecessary to type "www" when entering a web address in the address bar. Instead, just type the remainder of the address - for instance, "microsoft. com" or "whitehouse. gov." Browsers today will automatically insert the "www," if it's needed at all.

Washington - Are your important files backed up? If not, you're courting disaster. Everyone should have a backup plan of some type in place - even if it's only a routine that automatically backs up your critical files to a USB drive or an external hard drive. Scheduling backups is easy with the built-in backup tools in today's operating systems.
