LONDON: Madonna has re-affirmed her status as the ‘Queen of Pop’ after her ‘Sticky & Sweet’ world tour turned out to be the highest-grossing roadshow ever by a solo artist.
The Material Girl wrapped up her trek in Tel Aviv, Israel on Wednesday, ending a mammoth run of gigs for the 51-year-old. Her efforts have paid off, according to promoters Live Nation, as Madonna has raked in $ 408 million since kicking off the jaunt last August.
The ‘Sticky & Sweet’ tour surpasses Madonna’s own record for the most successful outing by a solo artist. Her 2006 ‘Confessions’ tour grossed $194 million. But the pop superstar still has some way to go before she can steal the honour of the highest grossing tour of all time enjoyed by The Rolling Stones whose ‘A Bigger Bang’ tour pulled in $ 558 million between 2005 and 2007.
