The Girl Next Door, New Delhi: “The Girl Next Door 2007” is an excellent movie. The fantastic story revolves around two girls. They have recently lost their parents and no one is there to take care of them. They are orphan now.Circumstances force them to live with their aunt who has three young sons. The aunt is a middle aged woman obsessed with feminine purity. She sees the new arrivals as a potentially corrupting influence on the masculine world she presides over. The lady vigorously encourages her sons to commit more and more severe acts of bullying and sadism against the older girl. Going beyond all limits of audaciousness, they (sons) eventually tied up the girl in the basement. The poor girl is used as a play thing by all the neighbourhood children. Here the story takes u turn when a boy, who lives next door, has become friends with the girl. He has a growing sense of unease about the “games” which are taking a very sinister turn, yet he is powerless to change the course of events. The script of the movie is superb and well written. Effective direction and outstanding performance mesmerize audience. Audience feels the pain of the girl on screen. As they know that their mother is supporting them and encouraging them to perpetrate more against the girl, they turn very savage and their brutality knows no bound against the girl.Movie has successfully carved out the pain of orphans on silver screen. But some of the scenes are really shocking in which children torture another child due to encouragement of their mother for atrocious act.
